It's been a while
Since I worked on a IBM PC, but I remember one of the things I didn't like was all the parts were proprietary. This is a mistake and they need to get over it. It makes the PC expensive and difficult to upgrade. If my floppy drive goes bad and I can't sling in a cheap replacement then I'm not interested in the PC. Compaq started doing the same thing and now the are owned by HP. I see it starting with Dells too. They keep making all these specialized systems that you can't change the video card in. We bought some of those specialized computers at work and yes they are cool but very limited when special needs come about. Anyway, I think that was part of their problem, expensive proprietary systems.
