Not from what I read
You will still be able to record shows but you won't get perfect digital quality copy.

This does not remove fair use as you can still copy it. Also I've read that simply installing cable modem filter will allow for perfect digital copy as it remove the extra information that is messing up the signal. So you TV detects a broadcast flag and adds to the signal reducing the quality on the line out to a TIVO, VCR, DVD Recorder, or PC. The filter clears those extra signals and away you go. The device is not in violation of the DMCA as its primary use it for filtering internet traffic from TV traffic.
