Cookies in eVoting machines
Did you catch this:
http://www.blackboxvoting.org/?q=node/view/78

Seems to me there is nothing to stop me writing voting machine software, so that if I tap five times in the top left corner the Democrat wins, if I tap five times in the right corner the Republican wins. (Or some other hidden cookie).

I just tell my friends: "Senator X is against us, when you vote click 5 times in the right corner".

It would pass all audits, there is no paper trail in the voting machine to show that its changed.
Any voting machine taken out for testing wouldn't show it (because my friends wouldn't be clicking the cookie on those machines). The voting officials could be totally honest and it would make zero difference, since my friends voting could flick the secret switch by their actions.

Really a paper trail is needed. There's just too many possibilities for trickery.
