- Windows License
- Windows 2000/XP is designed for 1-2 processor machines and you don't need to buy a seperate license for every processor that I know of. And technically a dual core chip is one processor it just has 2 cores. If you have 2 dual core chips on a Windows XP Pro/2000 pro based PC it will do you no good as they can only recognize 2 processors. For those type of applications you will need 2000/2003 server which has licenses for 2, 4, 8 etc.. processor units. Windows 9x (95, 98, and ME) will most likely take no advantage of a dual core chip as they can only recognize one processor. Does that help.
