RFID Technology Should Be Viewed With Great Suspicion
I think it is important to realize that just about all the amendments to the constitution are there to protect individuals from the government. The framers of the constitution quite frankly were very suspicious of government, and I believe it is prudent for all of us to be the same. The underlying idea behind our system of government is that individuals come first; and they then lend power to the government to carry out functions on their behalf. The problem is that there is a constant struggle to convince individuals to give away their freedom for some benefit. In fact in a number of government agencies like the Department of Health and Human Services, it is absolutely frightening how the mindsets of many individuals in these agencies are similar to those who used to run the Soviet Union and Eastern Bloc countries. They really believe it is the collective who should dictate to individuals how they should live their lives, rather than the agencies being accountable to individuals in this country. And many of these agencies actually do have the right to usurp the rights of individuals, and impose on them whatever action they deem to be correct ? until the individuals can prove their cases in court (which many people aren?t able to do very because they cannot afford private lawyers).

As far as I?m concerned, the intent behind the use of RFID tags on human beings is irrelevant. The potential for abuse by government agencies and other parties is just too great. By default RFID tags should not be used. If they are used however, it must be extremely difficult to make the case that someone be required to wear them. And even if RFID tags are used voluntarily, I believe extraordinary steps should be taken to ensure people are in fact not being coerced to do so. I believe RFID must be watched with great vigilance. I believe the following text suggests that it is necessary that we do:

"It is the common fate of the indolent to see their rights become a prey to the active. The condition upon which God hath given liberty to man is eternal vigilance; which condition if he break, servitude is at once the consequence of his crime and the punishment of his guilt." -- John Philpot Curran: Speech upon the Right of Election, 1790.
