I never said Apple invented HyperTransport, I just refuted your assertion that Apple "borrowed AMDs HyperTransport". Just so you are perfectly clear:

"Although AMD invented HyperTransport, the protocol is royalty free. Companies pay a fee to join the consortium, which allows them full access to the protocol. Members are allowed to retain the copyright to technology they develop independently."

In other words, Apple bought HyperTransport via their membership of the consortium.

I fail to see how that somehow belittles Macs. If every bit of a Mac was developed independently by Apple, would that please you? Is no part of any AMD system licenced from anyone? Even if it wasn't, would that bestow some magical virtue on all AMD systems?

I'm somewhat bemused by your assertion that I should remain silent because this "isn't a Mac forum" - the story is about Intel, so why are you talking about AMD?
