Of course most people won't spend $3000.00 on a gaming PC, but just like most people wont spend 3000.00 on a cool Apple dual G-5. It's called a niche market. There is a lot more to PC gaming that just playing the games. PC's have more versatility and communities (mods/addons/etc) tend to form around PC games. The Console makers are trying to foster this same type of thing with their machines, but IMO consoles will never replace the versatility of the PC.
