Pricey but Open Architecture unlike Dell and Mac
The Mac can't even be considered comparable to either the Dell or the Alienware performance-wise. 'State of the Art' and Apple haven't been used in the same sentence by anyone but Mac users for almost six years now.
I'd take the Athlon64 box - but I'd build it myself for about 1,500 less. Either way the Mac can't run with any of these machines. Single Athlon64's have routed dual-G5's in every relevant benchmark. The Mac is borrowing AMD's HyperTransport also, so if that magical G5 was comparable performance-wise (and it's NOT)to an Athlon64 cpu Apple wouldn't have been forced to change their dishonest advertising in multiple countries. This Alienware, like the Voodoo's and Falcon Northwest systems cost more than Mac's and Dell's because they have better parts, and are fully open-architecture. I've owned Alienware systems and although I build my own now I can wholeheartedly recommend Alienware to someone who wants the best and price is no object. You get what you pay for.
