- Do I *need* a new PC?

I did recently buy a new box for OS testing but other than that, I haven't seen a reason to buy new machines and/or replace the machines we use everyday. Frankly, there is little in the way of applications that really use all the power we have on our desks today. (Yes there are things like video rendering but that is best left to a serious workstation.)
Please, don't take me wrong. I am a geek at heart and a new machine is always a "treat" I look forward to. But in an economy where I must justify my hardware expenditures based on need instead of warm and fuzzy, it just isn't there.
I am hoping someone shows me a whiz golly application that demands dual CPUs, 8 Gig of RAM, 128 Meg of video RAM, 5 in 1 stereo, wireless everything, DVD burning CD churning megaplex, 42" flat panel monitor, and, and, and...
