What is that supposed to mean?

Migrating away from MS isn't "always" a good idea. In some cases it may be, though I've found very few situations where I'd recommend it (usually quite the opposite).

I'd say migrating away from a DOS/Win9X or Novell based environment should be a top priority... and moving away from archaic Unix systems as well.

But in a great many cases moving platforms is not something that should be done lightly or too often. Migrating is expensive, troublesome, and usually not worth the gain. Even moving to a new version of the current platform can cause headaches.

Of course, it all depends on your field. And there will always be those who favor their personal favorite platform.

I've no problem with those who argue about valid advantages/disadvantages to specific platforms, or scenarios where one platform bests another. But what will always irk me is
A) when someone uses misinformation to support their own personal gain - or that of some company they feel obliged to support.
B) when people blame a problem like this one on the platform when it has absolutely nothing to do with it.
