It's a sad day
When someone as niave as you is put in charge of important computer systems.

There is no conflict between SP2 and AMD64 chips.

Microsoft didn't screw up. In fact, SP2 is quite an admirable accomplishment and will do wonders for the security of desktops and workstations everywhere.

Migrating to Linux is usually a bad idea in the first place. But doing it because of an issue that has nothing to do with you, your computers, or your current OS is pretty bone-headed.

The problem in question is a bug in the device driver installed by this particular hardware MPEG decoder... which probably all of 10 people have.

This problem also affects systems with Intel chips if they have DEP enabled (such as the new 64-bit Xeon chips). You can either disable DEP altogether (not recommended), set it to only monitor Windows and system-related services, or create an exception for the program in question. Or remove that worthless card from your computer as no one with an AMD64 processor needs a hardware MPEG decoder card. Especially not one with a buffer overrun in the driver.
