That's not it
You make a valid point, but the thing is, Apple is still
producing these. Calling them clones is a bit off the mark.
They're merely wearing HP logo t-shirts. This is a great deal
for Apple as they are getting the iPod into an enormous
distribution chain. HP is sold virtually everywhere. It's a
good deal for HP because they are now selling the best
selling DMP on the market, getting it at a great price, and
they didn't have to put a dime of R&D into it. I thought it
was a little strange at first that they didn't change the look
of it, but now it makes perfect sense. HP still gets the style
cache, and Apple has an opportunity to sell more iPods
than ever without competing with the version they sell.
Great idea.
