This does not tell the story...
The "Mission Critical Microsoft" initiative is missing from this story. I bet for every 1 bank looking at Sun, there are hundreds, if not thousands, looking at Windows Server solutions. I sent this article to my rep and he called me to tell me not to worry, that Microsoft had special forces sales people working this angle, trying to force Solaris out of all banks. It is really quite simple too. Think of it this way, banks are risk averse, right? Well, what is less risky than putting your entire enterprise on Microsoft? You get it all, Sharepoint for document sharing, Exchange for email. IE for the absolute most robust web surfing experience. The competition is over.
