I beg to differ
Have you heard people in Japan standing in a long line outside the Apple store for long hours just to get their hands on an iPod? Have you seen all the promotions and contest to win an iPod all over the web and radio? That's because like he said:

"There is nothing hipper and nothing cooler than an iPod,"

So long as there is a huge demand for it and sales continue to climb every quarter to unbelievable levels, (though I believe it slowed a little this summer) and Apple continue to improve on it, then it will continue to be cool. Once you start seeing it in Wal-Mart or your local grocery store, then you could say goodbye to the coolness factor.
