I think the movie industry genuinely, and naively, thought
CSS would stop piracy. Pitty they didn't realise that for a
pirate, quality is not an issue.

They can do whatever they like but they will not stop
piracy
. I don't condone theft of copyright or pirate
music or video, but all the actions of movie moguls seems
aimed at honest people who just want their DVD player to
keep playing DVDs.

Let me spell it out - it does not matter what the movie
industry does to "protect" their product, it will be copied.
Even if that means projecting it onto a wall and videoing
the image, it will happen - because that is how the
vast majority of pirate movies are made right now.
