But they do get darker over time, 7-9 years I think. And once they do, you can't "re-charge" them, once they go, they're gone. With plasma's check if it's an EDTV or an HDTV, I think a lot of the cheaper Gateway's are ED.

Also watch out for burn-in watching SD material. And when you get the unit home, take it out of "torch mode" (contrast and brightness set all the way up). That's what most sets are set to so that they look good in the stores.
