Prices Too High
Plasmas prices will continue to fall. Remember when they were
introduced top quality sets were 20K US while entry level where
around 10K. You can now by a HD Plasma for less than 5K. For
those who think that is still to pricey, consider this. You will
probably use the set at least a couple hours a day for nearly ten
years. The computer your reading this on which you paid
probably $1500.00 will need to be replace three times in the
next ten years.

A couple words of caution about plasma TVs. Not all plasmas
are created equal. Be careful many of those for sale at Costco
and Gateway are EDTV or enhanced definition TV. They are 480
X 852 resolution which equates to around 400,000 pixels.
These TV's give a nice picture but nowhere near the picture
quality of true high Def. Which requires a minimum of a million
pictures. The minimum requirement for high def is a
progressive scan device displaying 720 X 1280. Most HD
Plasmas are 1280 X 768 thus being true HDs. Some Sony Sets
though have 1024 X 1024 resolution which while not a standard
HD resolution provides a solid HD Pictue.

For those interested in plasmas take the time to shop around at
a quality retailer who can show you a plasma with a true HD
image. Looking at a good plasma with a true HD image is truly
like looking out a window. It is spectacular.
