My first laptop was a Thinkpad 720LD. I got used to the track point very quickly. My second was also a Thinkpad. I hated it when I was forced to use a touch pad on a computer that I acquired later. It was very awkward and required much more motion on my part to accomplish the same goal. There was some drift on the old IBM but later versions got it right I think. I think also that later versions allow you to select by tapping downward on the track point also. I will probably get a laptop with track point again some day (when and if the HP Pavilion Entertainment Notebook I was given bites the dust) even if I have to go refurb with XP for OS. (what a sacrifice) The only thing is, I have now gotten used to the scrolling regions on the touch pad. I don't want to give those up now. The Macbook Pro drives me up the wall though. I finally got the darn thing to tap to select but what's up with the single mouse button? It's a good thing my wireless Microsoft mouse plugs in and functions well.
