That's probably why . . .
they do that with the inkjets. To get you SO aggravated with them that you'll be willing to go spend a few hundred dollars (plus consumables cost), and net them even more money.

The one thing I like about the HP6310 I use in my office is the fact that, although it screams at you to replace the ink cartridges, it WILL let you print until you actually run them dry.

On the software front, I find that the HP Faxing and scanning software is actually more usable than any third party software I've seen yet. I don't do OCR, so I haven't had the joy(if that's what you want to call it . . .)of using it or the so-called photo suite they want to install.

Most of the other manufacturer's software on the other hand, well I think that there are a lot of programmers out there that deserve to be lined up and shot.
