AC Adapters: That's something that just can't get guaranteed. I think the closest way to do this is to have an integrated-yet-replaceable power supply built directly into the device and make a standardized connector. No way they're gonna make an adapter that will power the Dell XPS M1730 (dual-core CPU, 2xGeforce 8600's, PhysX processor, 2x7200RPM hard drives, 17" 1920x1080 display) and the macbook air. no one is gonna want to carry that around.

Shiny Notebook Screens: We again come back to the fact that having more choices is going to make decision making even more annoying. How many constraints do you want on choosing a laptop? I wouldn't want to have to choose a laptop based on the screen type any more than I wanted to have to get one with a PCMCIA slot a few years back when half the laptops had them and half had expresscards, even though I had several PCMCIA cards and no one was making expresscard peripherals.

Mobile Phone Sockets: The particular model he chose was rather old. Yes, LG and Samsung are notorious for having odd, proprietary connectors on them, but the particular Nokia model he showed was one of the first to support data transfer at all. Before that, no one really considered connecting the phone to the computer for data exchange or modem tethering. The DKU-5 connector was originally a serial cable (although USB versions are now available), and mini-USB hadn't been standardized. The particular image he showed was an early pioneer in the phone/PC integration concept; a modern Samsung unit would have been a better choice to
illustrate the point he is making.
