ZDNet is so obviously not even trying anymore. This story is straight out of a DARPA press release, and doesn't mention the fact that DARPA has actually changed the rules to proceedurally exclude the little guy inventors the race was originally envisioned to attract.
It is just sad to see such inferior reporting. Here's a link to the real story about this race:
