I agree that the so-called "war on terror" is a manufactured means of gaining governmental control of U.S. citizens while actually making our world less safe and violating our rights. However, I don't believe that biometric data will perpetuate that much at all. We've been tracked via social security cards (even though they are easily and frequently falsified) for years--probably beginning right around the time "they" decided that infants should be issued the cards. It is impossible to function in our society without it--from getting a driver's license to starting utility services (e.g. electricity or gas) to even renting a movie!

The main thing that widespread use of biometric data would do, in my opinion, is to ensure a higher level of security for all of our identification needs both online and off, at home and abroad.
