I agree to a point
I guess it really depends on what you consider an OS. For me it's purely the interface that allows me to interact with the hardware. That could be a simple as pushing play on CD player. Still an OS.

The device I consider having no OS would be like your turn table where you manually set the needle on the record. Or the mechanical tape record were pressing the play button manually moves the gears into to place.
