I respectfully disagree

As soon as a viable HDTV Media Center is available and runs fine I'll run to buy one! For many reasons:

1- less cable (you should see the pile of cables behind the TV - a real spider's web).
2- TIVO-like ability (without monthly fees with some devices)
3- 400GB of storage for all my ripped CDs on a central server (so it's available from any device that supports centralized storage). Having a few hundreds music CDs it is certainly interesting. It's also usefull if you have a laptop with a wireless connection. I can bring my whole collection of music with me outside on the patio.

4- SnapStream, VideoLAN and XBOX extender can stream content to other devices. Centralizing all the media content becomes more interesting (no CD shuffling)

I understand that not everyone would like this kind of setup. Personally I appreciate it and it's a real time-saver
