marine and aircraft susceptability to cell phone emissions
Like a person before ho cerfied avionics for use, I design and manufacture avionics displays for military use as well as marine displays.
In all my years of doing this there has been only one anectdotal report of possible interference in mid cabin on a commericial aircraft right on a window seat. Despite followup tests this was never confirmed. In marine displays there are restrictions about the placement of emitting equipment near the radio which is in the vhf band but these are international standards not US. In short there is no documented proof of any interference by cell phones to any aircraft/marine system. BTW gps terminals are not banned for use, simply because they are receivers and not transmitters.
