ZD "journalism"
AMD's Opteron processor for servers also incorporates EVP, but the feature won't switch on in Opteron until the arrival of Microsoft's Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 and Windows Server 2003 for 64-bit Extended Systems hit the market.

Needless to say, ZD's "reporters" never considered that there have been systems that use NX [1] since the Opteron family came out. In particular, the great majority of existing Opteron systems run Linux, which has had support for NX all along.

As usual, though, ZD repeats without question the line that the industry begins and ends with Microsoft.
