PS2 plays DVDs
So the new DVD for High Definition content use these Blue Ray DVDs. This would mean that you can watch HD DVD content with PS3. That's one reason I bought the PS2 over the X-Box. PS2 plays DVD right out the box with no need fork out an additional cash for the DVD remote that the X-Box need. Though there are time where I wish I'd spent the extra dough and got the X-Box and remote but at the time I had only enough for just the console.

Now if I were to buy a PS3 or even the X-Box2 I'd want to know for sure if it would play HD content.
