Whether or not they are idiots, they are definitely opening up discussions on the possibility of using OSX on non-Apple hardware, and exposed the legal weakness of the EULA. They may well have opened the floodgates.

This should have Apple concerned and ready to make some fairly major changes, but not unduly worried methinks. They will be changes for the better. People still love ipods (I want an ipod touch!) and sexy Apple hardware. Those who can't afford it may start to have cheaper alternatives.
