There are two companies:

One will sell a overpriced product.

Other will sell almost the same product but half the price.

No matter, both are manufactured using similar piece of hardware and software, indeed apple will not use "premium" hardware anymore but they are focused on stylished cover.

So, for a normal buyer, it's a no brain to choose the cheap option over the expensive one . So the expensive products must look using some tricks more attractive to the consumer (usually fooling), FUD is one way to do it.
