Standards, ease of use, common point of origin, culpability, and a reality check when it comes to what general users want. The problem with UNIX developers has always been their arrogance in always assuming what the users should be willing to tolerate, or should be willing to learn. I ought to know, I was one of you. The general user doesn't want ten differing GUI's, or ANY alternate GUI for that matter. Does MS do it well? Not really, but WHO CARES! They have market share, and in the end, that is all that really matters. It is easy to decide what to buy for your business needs. You know that you are likely going to have to upgrade every couple of years, but nobody wants to drive that old clunker (symboloc statement) for more than a couple of years anyway. In the ?nux world, there are few players that can make the claim that they are likely to still be in the game in ten years. Stop crying titty baby, and get over yourself. There will always be at least two ships in the Software sea, and ?nux will never be the Flagship. The "dumb users" among us won't allow it. We will always buy market share over arrogance!
