I don't know about the time argument there Ax
As you yourself stated MS rose to power in a lightning strike compared to other industries of the past. Still that is the world we live in today. Things move sooooo very fast now, and change happens in a blink of an eye (historically speaking that is) After all the United States itself is an infant compared to many nations out there yet here we are on the top of the heap. And that is what worries me soooo very much. While the times and technology have changed to make things move much faster. People have NOT changed to keep up with said changes. So I see we Americans getting fat, lazy and arrogant at a pace that took empires such as Rome and Eqypt centuries to develop that same distructive attitude. Yet we have gotten to the top so much faster, and our attitude has gotten to the self important, and self destructive point all that much faster. Now I see us on the endge of heading down a very fast and steep decline.

We ship out or base of jobs like manufacturing and technology to OTHER nations!!

We are spending BILLIONS in other lands!!!

Europe once a divided continent of waring states is uniting and there for combining their stregths rather than waisitng their energies in pointless local conflicts.

India is a nation with a Space Program, nukes, and the tech to deliver them anywhere on the planet.

China has the largest and fastest gowing economy and people/business are tripping over themselves to get business from China and in the process giving China more and more tech. China also has a growing space program, and nukes.

In the blink of an eye...I think it will come to pass that you and I AX may live long enough to wake up one day and find both MS and the United States are no longer on the top.
