To a small degree yes.
Having the top spot is always a challenge. (After all, no one shoots at the unknown player.)

But I have watched MS over the last two decades and while they have stumbled here and there like any company, they recover very quickly and can change the entire company focus exceptionally well.

The fact of the matter is, Mr. Kanellos shows up about once a week to tell anyone willing to listen that Linux is going to take over the world. Obviously that plays well with the Linux zealots, but those of us having had a few decades in the business just smile and keep on going. I guess that's why most of his writings are restrained to the commentary section...
