What's with this kick on digital copies. It doesn't matter. And yes you can make digital copies under fair use. Burning a CD for use in your car is perfect example and has been sighted as example under "Fair Use for Personal Enjoyment". Copying a CD is a perfect digital copy.

Now you can do it with a new VCR, somehow I doubt it will catch on though. For the same reason DAT tapes didn't. Tapes are a pain, rewinding and fastforwarding. Once you have CD or DVD players why go back to tapes. I remember tapes for the PC back in the late 70s for storage. We stopped using them because they were slow. Good for niche purposes and that's it. That's why DAT died and that why D-VHS will die.
