It seems to me like we've really started to hit the limit for small size and speed of processors in the standard form now, and are instead focusing on multiple cores as a gimmick to increase performance. This is very exciting that there may be yet another advancement in computer technology that'll allow us to continue to significantly increase the speed of our computers. As past improvements have shown, we always will have a need for increased speed and power and as a result as more advancements are made our programs will also continue to evolve into more advanced creatures.
