Answer to the question is simple
They are not really Christians....they are more concerned with saving their seat in politics and securing their lifetime retirement than standing up for their moral and religous values...they are afraid to stand up even though they spout their Godliness....

The Bible talks about these so-called Christians....they are "Christians in word, but not in deed"....

Actions speak louder than words in this instance, don't you think?
