YES Microsoft will buy Logitech, otherwise Dell or HP will take control!
The future is not about computing anymore. Computers will like routers, external hard drives, modems and printers be stored in the closet or basement. The future is about interacting with others, being entertained and flow of information. Hence TV , music, film, radio, gaming, work, private administration, household control and communication will be integrated in one box or device. Supported by fast connection, wireless or fiber, and some software to make things happen. In the end of the day, the consumer doesn?t care about this software as long as it is simple to operate and fulfils their wishes. Do you care about having Symbian on your Nokia or Apple?s OS X on your iPhone or the software in your Wii? No you care about the functionality; what does it bring to your life. And the way of connecting in the past and future will be with handhelds, sensors and microphones. In the past you used a remote to open your garage. Today you use a remote to dim lights or call people. In future with the help of voice control, sensors with face, hand palm recognition or iris scan; we will control our live and navigate our digital worlds. Until then we need slim, sleek, robust, design, fun, cool and small devices to connect us and to control our environment. So if you are in the business of developing software, like Microsoft, there are two good reasons to buy Logitech.

1) the Logitech handheld devices will allow the Microsoft consumers to connect, play and work. Microsoft can tailor its software to work optimal with these devices. For example, I am typing on a Logitech DiNovo design keyboard. I did not bother installing the Logitech software, so I am stuck in the Pareto rule of 20/80; using 20% of the functionality.
2) The software business development is as discussed above less important in the future, it is about ?what will connect the consumer to its environment?. And those things will be handheld devices, voice control microphones and sensors; all products of Logitech. Now the remote suppliers follow the software developers, in the future they will be owned by those developers.
