St. Petersburg Times story is a crock of liberal garbage
You can plainly tell this was written by some liberal moron to support their attempt to play the race card for their upcomming law suit.

Lets looks at some facts, assuming there was this "family emergency" and the threat of it was her reason for leaving the phone on:
1. woman could have put the phone on vibrate and held it in her hand and then left the theatre when the call came in.
2. As someone else said, she must have been on for a LONG time AND talking loud enough to disturb others for threatre people to be notified, who probably then asked her to stop which she ignored, AND for police to be called and arrived and yet still ignore their request. That to me says at least 15-20 minutes passed.
3. If the cop were black or the couple white, would this whole race thing even be an issue? Nope. Granted, the cop was out of line, but I don't think we are seeing the whole story here. It seems a little extreme to go from "Excuse me, you need to hang up your phone now" to a mace and cuff festival.
