- Oh, the people at Sandia are STUPID???
-
I don think these people would qualify as village idiots. Well, look at all of the research instutes worldwide. You will find that for about 99% of clusters being delivered worldwide, the customers want Linux.
And sure IBM is using AIX on a few because some customers might ask for a comercial OS, but it is rather obvious that IBM and everybody else is moving very quickly to Linux on clusters.
And, yes, I knew that Microsoft was entering the super computer game. They have billions to spend, and could afford to lose billions, if it would help them deny Linux a critical mass on the desktop. The problem for Microsoft is that these high profile projects make Linux look good. Kind of why Chevy has the Corvette line. And, you get a lot of scientists and engineers using Linux and clusters, they will be very open to using it on workstations and desktops. Microsoft would pay a billion dollars to deny Linux 1% market share. They do not want to find out where the tipping point is. - Posted by: DonnieBoy Posted on: 07/30/04 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
