Thanks for providing a well-rounded answer - I couldn't agree more.

I've got to say that I'm biased towards *NIX, but am willing to give Windows its due. Also, I've dealt with printing complex data (barcodes, labels, etc) via Unix print queues on various Unix flavors and it does indeed suck (if you plan on supporting more than one kind of printer).
