Your point is what?
MS goes after the computer your mother, grandmother and most other people would use. Those people are not interested in LINUX clusters, supercomputing, etc.

Who says MS has to dominate super computing?

LINUX is a commodity OS and free, hence its use. Beyond that there probably isn't any intrinsic quality to it vs. the trademarked UNIX OSes.

If you strip away GUI crap, the Windows NT kernel is very competent.

MS has its strengths... pretty GUIs, remember, it's village idiots that made it rich... all the people who just want shyt to "work" and don't care to dive into technical minutiae.

Being an IT pro in a mixed environment and leveraging *NIX on a daily basis it sometimes suprises me how uniterested even IT people (as in coworkers) in expanding their horizons in the very field they make their money in. It might be simply learning a new command line tool.

People are inflexible and GUIs work for them. MS has made a killing on that fact and it will continue to do so until the KDE/GNOME folks can readly compete on features. In this regard there have been impressive strides. And I hope these strides continue... MS could use some more competition on the desktop.

And despite all your chewing MS' arse out. Let me tell you, printing on *NIX (LINUX included) still sucks compared to Windows - both as an end user (drivers et al) and as a programmer (I had to deal with "print code" a good while back).

Anyway, what's the point of going on...
