AMD vs Intel
It's possible 3 cores can beat 2 fast cores. Back in the 1980's,in motorcycle GP racing,Honda built a V3 triple that at times would beat the faster V4 Yamaha and square four Suzuki. And Kawasaki's H1 and H2 triple in the 1970's were faster than any twin or four cylinder bikes at the time. AMD was the first to prove higher clock speeds are not necessarily faster than lower clock speeds. Being more efficienct in design and using gold bond wires in their CPU gave AMD a performance edge back in the single core days. Hollywood chose AMD Athlon 64 to make the latest Star Wars movie. Intel has an edge in encoding, while AMD has the edge in graphics. Today AMD Live has an edge over Intel's ViiV. If 3 cores do the job of 4,why use 4 cores? 3 cores has less heat and less cost. It's only a matter of time that AMD will match or beat Intel. They already beat Intel in price. Just like products Made in China dominate, money talks.
