Rise above ?
The big rise above is the price. License fees paid to Microsoft would nearly double the cost of the computer. That would defeat the objective of a low cost laptop. And yes, of course, Linux does not sell. It is free. Linux on the desktop may not be all that you would want, but it is functional and in wide use throughout the U.K. and Europe.
