Everybody knows where the choices are:
#1. Telco..purchase a package wich includes local,long distance,internet and/or TV/Wireless
or
#2. Cable ..purchase a package wich includes local,long distance,internet and/or TV/wireless
VOIP can be a hardware or a software solution for either of the two.Along with that both the hardware/software can be proprietary among them. 'The question of 'wires ,or use of them, doesn't exactly get the FCC to the boat sort of speaking.
The grab in what ascertions can be made for VOIP 'might be that of wireless.Along with the extent of the new Wi-fi variants. However these are a little farther in the future than the utilization wich proprieties of VOIP sees at present.
Everybody knows in the computer corner, that VOIP is just a software instalation away. But the companies doing the 'service as-internet-service are not all that vast. The potential isn't all that great even on a non-internet component sold w/o a bundled situation,or as a single featured 'system.
So if you look at the potential from the proprietors that exist there is not a whole lot of it. However if you look at the telcos, cables, wireless in a co. situation such as this I have always said, roll up the box,and have at it. This is the easiest way to speculate - having a component installed and second guess the service.
Second guessing who,and how much of your money is going to be taken in the meantime is another preposition of person. Guess if you do a lot of long distance on usuall phone billing this could be reason to have the larger rate considered comfortable. But the single qualifyer 'black box is too expensive for the average consumer - in addition to regular phone, internet, etc charges.
Features are the next consideration, this is the fact of rat race the govies positioning to. They probably would like to put the computer-in-the-corner to be something of the computer-in-my-pocket while knowing nothing about the players in this field. Idea being to pidgeon hole a given subject to regulation that spells beans for everybody else beside the govy.
Really dont think its the 'pennies on the lb. key . There are other interests vying for the 'feature set of digital phoning systems in and of the technology itself. A handful of VOIP proprieties does not change this fact.
Would be nice of congress to talk about tax breaks for installing the new systems for telcos, sat cos, cable cos. etc. Somehow they will probably get around to that.So they might be biting their toes despite their shoes in congress.
Corner is still a corner though.
