- I agree!

I currently use a 5-year-old, regular DVD player w/ my HD set, connected via composite video, and the picture looks beautiful. Maybe I'm too easily pleased, but I can't imagine buying whole-hog into an expensive bleeding-edge technology to obtain a minor if even perceptible improvement.
I don't agree w/ the suggestion in another message that it would benefit consumers to keep both technologies in the game. I think that volume and advances in manufacturing technologies do FAR more to lower cost than fear of a competing format -- and splitting finite market share between both formats would obviously delay the growth of either.
Lastly, anyone who experienced the joy of Beta/VHS can tell you, having two incompatible formats is a pain. Stores have limited shelf space, and trying to juggle both just reduces the likelihood that you can get want you want in the format you need. - Posted by: ctatnall Posted on: 03/13/08 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
