My kid's Gameboy has the capability for a camera (she has that), a TV tuner and an adapter that will takes a CF card that allows MP3 and movie playback. All for under $200. And she can buy the cartridges with the cartoons, as well. If you have a chance, check those out-the quality is actually not bad.

The Sega Game Gear I bought ten years ago had the TV adapter and it still works.

As for phones, I agree with Squawkbox-I don't need to play music or watch TV on the darned thing! I have an older model that I bought three backups for because it does what I want. Speakerphone, a good storage capacity for my address book and PC syncing. I could surf the web, but I have never bothered. I do play the one game that came with it when I am stuck somewhere with no other diversions.

Technology is great, but not merely for the sake of having a new "gee whiz" toy.
