Hmmm, but...
No radio tuner - you can buy a tuner as an add-on, but I agree a tuner would be nice.

Proprietary AAC - Your criticism here is invalid. Incidentally, Apple doesn't own AAC, the Fraunhofer institute does.

As you say, the iPod supports MP3, so what's the problem? If you have an issue with iTunes Music Store (iTMS) using AAC, then don't use iTMS. iPod and iTunes will work with MP3s from anywhere.

If you use some other form of DRM, then you will have to use the software and devices that support, you don't offer any alternatives here, so we can't discuss it.

Expensive - the new iPods are $50 more than a Dell DJ. From the reviews I've read, the extra few $'s are worth it for the simpler installation and use. Perhaps the release of the new models was a response to Dell and Sony. If so, ain't competition great?

Incidentally, the Rio Karma only offers a 90 day warranty versus Apple's 12 months. There's an interesting board here discussing iPod vs Rio.
