So if the digital tuner is built into the TV can I hook that up to a PVR and record a channel while watching another channel.

The problem is getting the signal out from the TV tuner. Usually they only have audio out. I have not been TV shopping in a while, but I don't recal ever seeing a TV that had video out.

What you can do, if I read your message correctly, is hook the PVR to the digital cable box for the show you want to record and use the digital tuner in the TV to watch another program.

As for the card slot, they came out with CableCard as part of the 1996 Telecom Act.
