And you forgot the Billions of Dollars that the U.S. government is going to make by auctioning off these "free" airwaves.
There are more families than ever struggling to make ends meet and put food on the table. Both parents have to work all the jobs and hours they can to keep up. Single parent mothers are pretty much screwed.
The government could have just allowed this switch to digital to happen gradually, in it's own time, and according to market forces.
But apparently, the greedy U.S. government is just itching for the Billions it will rake in during the auctions, so they have decided to force the switch by a certain day, which was just apparently picked out of the blue, and cram all of this down everyones throats.
And the cost, as always, is to be borne by consumers, and also in this case by broadcasters. Consumers already hard hit with rising prices of everything, yet shrinking incomes. Our local Public TV stations are going to be hit hard upgrading all of their equipment, at a time when the Bush group is dramatically cutting their funding year after year.
I hope the next President is one who can give this country back to the people and allow us to live free and well and flourish again. - Posted by: bruceslog Posted on: 01/02/08 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
