Still counting bytes

I still remember the prompt of the C64 "38911 bytes free" What a huge amount of
RAM. Now my Windoze Xp with 2GB is frequently stalling.

My girl-friend - she's not good with numbers - went off to by a laptop. She
insisted that it should have 1MB of RAM. The shop assistant corrected her: "You
mean 1GB of RAM". She replied: "As you had been born computers worked with
1MB of RAM as fine as today with 1GB of RAM"

The biggest achievement in programming for me was cramping the boot loader of
CP/M 3.0 into 286 bytes - I managed to do it with 252. Now the question is how to
use 400GB RAM and 40+ cores efficiently - man, times have changed
