Something to ponder
In December 1978, over 50% of ALL COMPUTERS IN THE WORLD were Radio Shack TRS-80 systems. There just weren't a lot of computers out there.

The PET, the C64, the TI-99/4A, the Atari, the Apple clones, the Kaypro II, the Osborne . . .these brought us the world we have today. They were the first "buy and fly" computers, and they prompted Apple to move into mass marketing and IBM to rewrite the world with the concept of the "Personal Computer."

It was these systems which moved computers into the living room, the basement, the spare bedroom, and wherever else people are comfortable.

The world talks about The Woz and Jobs, but the real miracle workers were Tramiel, Osborne, Kay and other like them, for whom the computer wasn't geek bait, but just another appliance to be taken for granted -- it WORKED, it DID THINGS, and ANYONE could use it.

I remember one visit I made to a home where the VCR was flashing "12:00" -- but the C64 was the most-used appliance in the house.
